Cuddly, comfortable and warm - your yoga blanket
When it comes to yoga practice, you might first think of asanas on your yoga mat, and you're more likely to sweat than get cold. But then there are also the quiet elements like final relaxation, meditation or breathing exercises - and you quickly cool down and suddenly long for some cozy, warm protection. There are many moments in yoga practice when you can really use a warm and cozy blanket:
Your yoga blanket in Shavasana
The final relaxation is part of almost all yoga classes because it gives you the opportunity to calm your body and to feel deeply what you have experienced during the yoga session, to appreciate it and to integrate it before you return to the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Shavasana is usually chosen as the position for this beneficial and important relaxation phase. To avoid freezing during the relaxation (which can easily happen if you have been sweating beforehand), it is advisable to have a yoga blanket to hand to protect you from getting cold. This way you will stay warm and can fully enjoy the final relaxation.
Your yoga blanket in meditation
A yoga blanket can also be of great use when meditating. Even if you sit in a position for a long time - perhaps early in the morning, in a slightly cooler room or outside in nature - your body can easily get cold. You may be so engrossed that you don't even notice it at first and only start to feel cold after meditation. It's a good idea to be prepared and wrap yourself in a meditation shawl or a protective yoga blanket. If you get too warm after a while, you can simply take the blanket off - this will disturb your meditation less than taking off a jacket or sweater in the middle of it.
And your yoga blanket for Pranayama
The same applies to pranayama sessions: If you are not practicing warming breathing techniques, it is often a good idea to wrap yourself in a warming yoga blanket.
By the way: Sometimes the yoga blanket also helps in asana practice...
Sometimes, in asana practice, you don't just use yoga blocks, yoga straps or bolsters, but also blankets to create a raised surface (e.g. under the head or under the buttocks). Depending on how often you fold the blanket, you can easily achieve the height you need. Here, too, it always proves to be very practical and useful to have a yoga blanket ready next to the mat. Yoga blankets are really versatile and can even be used in asanas!
Apart from that, your yoga blanket also feels at home on the sofa and is therefore a universal cuddly accessory!

FAQ about the yoga blanket:
What is a yoga blanket used for?
A yoga blanket can be used in yoga practice whenever you want to protect yourself from getting cold or freezing: This is especially the case during the final relaxation (usually Shavasana), when meditating and when practicing Pranayama. It can also be folded up and used as an aid when a raised surface or padding is needed in the asanas - for example, under the head or legs in supine positions or under the head in sitting positions.
What features should a yoga blanket have?
A yoga blanket should be warm, but also light and comfortable. Breathable materials are therefore particularly suitable for yoga blankets. The yoga blanket should also be large enough so that you can cover yourself completely with it or wrap yourself in it.
