Why use a Pilates ring?
The Pilates ring is a classic Pilates device that was developed and used by Joseph Pilates, the founder of the method. The Pilates ring allows for particularly effective muscle training for the upper arms and chest muscles as well as for the thighs and pelvic floor muscles, depending on how you position the Pilates ring (either between the hands or between the inner thighs). The great thing is that the Pilates ring can be used for a large number of common Pilates exercises to additionally activate the areas mentioned above. What exercises can you do with the Pilates Ring / Pilates Circle?

Example of positioning between the inner thighs:
To tighten the waist, roll backs are known in Pilates training. In this, you roll from a sitting position onto the mat, vertebra by vertebra, turning your upper body to the side (alternating to the right and left, coordinated with exhalation - you return to the starting position when you inhale). If you want to add leg tightening to your waist workout, place the Pilates ring between your thighs and press your legs lightly against it.

Examples of positioning between the hands:
Another exercise for a slimmer waist is to lift your upper back sideways while lying on your back (knees bent, feet on the floor or mat). Holding the Pilates ring between your hands will activate your abdominal muscles even more and also provide a workout for your chest muscles.
When standing, you can also press the Pilates ring together between your hands behind your back (the arms are moved slightly backwards, the hands point downwards and hold the Pilates ring). This trains the biceps and triceps as well as the shoulders.

Another example:
The most common positions for the ring are between the thighs or between the arms, as described above. This means that the Pilates ring can be incorporated into a large number of exercises. However, there are other creative ways of using it, for example: kneeling on the mat, support yourself on the floor with one hand and lift the leg on the other side upwards, stretching it out to the side. Place the Pilates ring on the leg with one handle (on the outside of the thigh) and hold the other handle with your free hand. The arm and thigh now both press against the resistance of the Pilates ring, making the exercise much more effective than without the Pilates circle.

Instead of positioning the Pilates Circle between your thighs, you can also position it directly above your ankles and then perform side leg presses against the resistance of the ring (the knees are slightly bent and the powerhouse is activated; press sideways against the ring at varying speeds).
