Most exercises performed with the resistance band simulate
training with the reformer. The reformer has been developed by Joseph
Pilates and can be found in every big pilates studio. Compared to
exercises done on the ground the reformer helps building up muscles and
enduringness much faster. The band makes for a similar effect for it
offers resistance and thus demands more muscular effort. Using the band
is also very recommendable if you strive to invigorate or stretch a
particular part of muscles.

Chosing the right band:
Start with a band that only offers little resistance. As soon as you
realize that practicing with it gets more and more easy you can go for
a band more tight. The degree of fortitude can be recognized from the
colour:

pilates resistance band - strong, blue
