YOGISTAR Charity: YOGISTAR supports children and youth work in Sri Lanka
YOGISTAR supports Azurkind eV in its work with children and young people in Sri Lanka
Azurkind eV supports the kindergarten at the UNESCO Village in western Sri Lanka. With our donation, 70 children can continue to receive good care there for the next few months, including salaries for four kindergarten teachers, a cook, a free hot lunch for the parents and maintenance measures.
The UNESCO Village was built by Elfriede Süß shortly after the 2004 tsunami with the help of a Buddhist monk and, above all, her own work. In addition to the kindergarten, the UNESCO Village also has a school, an orphanage, a medical care center and training centers that are kept running by donations like ours. There, the young people are trained to become metal workers, car mechanics, carpenters, tailors, cooks and bakers as well as electricians.
Azurkind eV supports this and other projects in Sri Lanka, primarily through yoga courses in Germany: the proceeds from the courses go directly to Sri Lanka, where a large community center is being built that served as a shelter for people who had lost their homes during the severe storms in 2016. Azurkind eV supports Elfriede Süß's overall project in Sri Lanka, through which numerous young people have already been able to complete vocational training, but which also supports widows with children and orphans, for example.
