Recorded in concert halls, churches and yoga studios during Snatam Kaur's tour of North America, you'll hear live recordings that reach the highest heights of these sacred spaces and deeply touch the hearts of their respective audiences. Be a part of this magical experience at Snatam Kaur's live concerts!
The set also includes the bonus DVD "Path of Peace" - an up-close chronicle of this tour.
This album fulfils many years of wishes to bring Snatam Kaur's live experiences to CD. Something mystical happens at every concert, which is reflected in each of these songs.
The album opens with Azure Salver, a prayer from the book "Peace Lagoon" (also available from us). This song has been one of their favourites at concerts, but has never been recorded elsewhere. It is especially underscored by the clarity in Snatam Kaur's voice, the poetry of the words, and the sophisticated instrumental accompaniment.
The live version of Sntam's Ong Namo elevates the studio version to new ethereal heights. Often during her stage performances, Snatam Kaur goes into a deep meditative space and spontaneously weaves new poetic passages of lyrics into a song. Ong Namo is a wonderful example of this.
The dynamic, fantastic interplay of the entire band is brought to perfect expression especially well in the songs Ong Sohung, Gobinda Hari and Adi Shakti, creating an excellent musical conversation between Snatam Kaur (vocals, harmonium, violin, Manish Vyas (tabla, Vocals), Guru Ganesha Singh (guitar, vocals) and Ram Dass Singh (keyboards, clarinet, vocals) with wonderful guitar, tabla, violin and clarinet solos and the vivid experience of a slowly increasing rhythm that makes for a unique live kirtan.
Shivohum is a piece composed by Manish, and it will delight you for years to come. It is a wonderful duet between Snatam and Manish, with an infectious energy and a special purity of sound that will make you want to listen to this piece over and over again.
Comment from the "Body Mind Spirit Guide" (a well-known magazine in USA):
"When you hear Snatam sing, you have a sudden, profound experience of her work manifesting in the song. Her crystal clear voice opens up, and everyone in the audience feels in their heart that peace is possible."
Set with audio CD and video DVD in lavish cardboard digipack.
